Abstract

Enteritis is the most dramatic disease that affecting neontal animals and human species. Diarrhea is a common symptom accompanied with enteritis and causing high morbidity and mortality among neonates. So, the present study is carried out to investigate the most common Gram negative bacilli that incriminated as causing diarrhea in neonates of animals and human especially during the first month of their life, with special reference to E.coli, klebsiella, proteus, citrobacter, enterobacter, arizona, salmonella, shigella, pseudomonas, yersinia and serratia.

This study involved bacteriological examination of 471 fecal swabs collected from animal and human species according to the following pattern:
- 112 fecal swabs from neonatal bovine calves.
- 74 fecal swabs from neonatal lambs.
- 73 fecal samples from neonatal camel calves.
- 88 fecal swabs from neonatal foal.
- 127 fecal samples from newly born children.
