Abstract Phytochemical and biological study aims to investigate the phenolic constituents and biological activities (osteoporosis and radical scavenging) for the aq. methanol extract of both plants; Quercus ilex family Fagaceae and Eugenia supra-axillaris family Myrtaceae. As a result of this study: For Quercus ilex, 19 phenolic compounds were individually isolated and identified for the first time from the wood of this plant; one was found to be a new natural product and identified to be rhamnetin -3,3-disulphate . For Eugenia supra-axillaris l3 phenolic compounds were individually isolated and identified for the first time from the woods of this plant. among them; one was found to be a a new natural product and identified to be: 3-methoxyellagic acid 4’-0- (rhamnopyranoside-3”-0-sulphate). It should be noticed also that this compound represents the first reported naturally occurring ellagic acid bearing a sulphate moiety at the sugar moiety. |
