Abstract

STUDIES ON SOME HALOTOLERANT SPECIES OF ACTINOMYCES ISOLATED from DIFFERENT SALINE SOILS.
ABSTRACT
The work in the present study began by collection of soil samples from different areas in Egypt representing the saline soils and saline affected soils.
We tend to isolate halophilic and halotolerant actinomycetes from the collected soil samples, as they are one of the more important groups of microorganisms in the soil
Under high salt concentrations 10-20 % NaCl, the soils from salt affected soils and inland salt marsh showed the highest count of salt resistant actinomycete isolates.
Among many actinomycete isolates, 18 isolates exhibited resistance to the elevaied NaCl concentration.
Some of the halotolerant and halophilic actinomycete isolates were selected for further studies. These included identification, screening for their ability to produce enzymes under salt stress, effect of some factors affecting enzymes production and the mechanism of osmoregulation, which could be referred to, glutamic acid and proline production due to salt stress. The disturbance of the synthesis patern of the amino acids might lead to ulceration in the patern of protein synthesis, thus protein was affected by salt stress.
Key words: Salt stress, halophilic and halotolerant actinomycetes from salm soils and salt affected soils, enzymatic production under salt stress and osmoregulation.
