Abstract
The original work presented in this thesis was undertaken with a view to synthesis some eco-friendly water soluble carbohydrate derivatives using locally available sesbania plant seeds and to investigate their suitability as thickening agents in textile printing.this was done via isolation of galactomannan gum from sesbania seeds and sujecting the obtained gum to chemical modification.the latter include carboxymethylation, graft polymerization or phosphorylation.
