Abstract
In the present thesis, the optimum conditions for leaching of the
Egyptian monazite ore has been investigated in a reflux system using
NaOH, HCl, H2SO4 and HNO3. Thorium has been determined
spectrophotometrically in presence of uranium and lanthanides using
Arsenazo-I before separation. Solvent extraction of thorium has been
carried out from the different aqueous media; chloride, sulphate and
nitrate. Different kinds of extractants have been used; TBP, TOPO and
D2EHPA. The factors affecting the extraction of thorium have been
investigated. The selective extraction of thorium has been also
investigated.
