Abstract The x-ray and neutron diffraction techniques are used to study the crystal structure of two spinel ferrites. Polycrystalline powder sample of C02Ti04 and ZnCoTi04 prepared using, the usual ceramic technique. X-ray diffraction patterns for these compounds were taken at 200C using CoKα(radiation. Each spectrum showed single phase of the spinel structure with no evidence of impurities or separate lines. The lattice constants for both compounds e determined to be: a1=.8.4449 ± 0.0010 AO and a2 = 8.4481 ±0.0009 AO respectively. The studied compounds crystallize in the cubic system space group Fd3m) with eight formula units in the cell. The metals are in special positions without parameter and are distributed in 8(a) tetrahedral A site and 16(d) octahedral B site. The oxygens are in the general positions 32(e) and form a cubic lose packing. |
