Abstract The aim of this study was to prepare mothers and their school-age children for one-day surgery of (T&A) and evaluate the effect of this preparation on children’s recovery and occurrence of postoperative complications. Three research hypotheses were utilized to reach the aim of the study: (1) Mothers and children who are prepared for one-day surgery tonsillectomy and adeniodectomy will have high level of knowledge than those who are not prepared, 2 mothers and children who are prepared for one-day surgery (T&A) will have lower anxiety than those who are not prepared and (3) children who prepared with their mothers for one-day surgery (T&A) will have better recovery and fewer complications than children who are not prepared. To test this hypothesis a total sample of 60 children undergoing (T&A) was chosen along with their mothers and were equally divided into two groups; the control and the study group. |
