Abstract

A Model that treats short-range correlations in finite nuclei in case of nuclear excitations is developed.. The model considers the correlations up to the first order in the number of correlation lines. The proper normalization of the many –body wave functions requires the evaluation of two- and three-point diagrams, the last ones are usually neglected in the literature. The model is applied to the nuclear excitations induced by electromagnetic probes (electron and g-photon reactions) where the nuclear responses are calculated by considering the short-range correlations acting only on the one-body operators of the external electromagnetic probes. The inelastic electron scattering transition leading to various low-lying excited states in some closed shell nuclei are calculated within our model. Then the model is applied to the one nucleon emission by electron scattering reaction in quasielastic region. Finally one nucleon emission process induced by real photon is studied by our model. It is found that the effects of short-range correlations are very small in case of electron scattering reactions inn the excitation energies and kinematics under investigation. Also, the calculations by including to the mean field transitions the two- point diagrams only are unstable and give a wrong estimation of the size of the transition. We found that the photonucleon emission cross section is rather sensitive to the presence of short-range correlations at high photon energies and large values of emission angles. In this region, however, the effects of meson exchange currents are also important.
