Abstract

I— Two hmdrod and sixty doei3 in shell (pippea end mpipped) embryos ware stibjected to bacteriolo— 5ical examination.
Tweny one . coli Etrain$, 26 staphylococci strains and 7 gam streptucooci strazs ware suooessfuiy iso1ted with an ineidente of 8, 3.0 aM respeative1y
II-. The isolated 21 L 1201i brains were serologically
tz’ped. 5 serotypes were identified, 2 026K66(B6),
3 serotype 055K59(B5), 4 serotype 0fl4X—(S—), 6
serotypc O?8XS0(B—) with si zncidenoe o 11.1, 16.6,
166, 22.3 and 33.4% respectively. Three strains
wero in agglutinablo.
III—. The pathocenicit of the isolated i. goli straiDa was tested in turicey nzbryDs both on the first and twenty fifth day o incubation. The ororoup 078 eM 055 pIoved to be hiGhly pathogenic while 0114, 026 and 03.26 were o modante pathogenicity for one day old inetbated os, The serogroups 078, 055, C126 026 were pathogenic for 25 dss old turtey embryos in a deereasis order.
The serogroup 0114 soenac-d to be nonpathogenic.
IV-. The infectivity s?oeifluIl at the iso]ato4 strains
of E. ccli to day old Dandarawi chicks was inves-.

The serogrtype 078 proved to be bigfly pathogenic 026, 0fl4 of moderate pathogenicity while 055 wa& the lowest pathogenic strain. 0126 was nonpathoeniG. The observed clinical symptoms ot the experimentally infeoted chicks and. th PM, pictures were simIlar to those noticed naturally, moreover the organism was reisolated from all dead chicks.
