Each child had two treatment visits, during which the studied sedation regimens were used in a cross over pattern, so that each child served as his/her own control. Treatment visits were divided into two groups; group I comprised treatment visits in which children were premedicated by a combination of ketamine (4mg/kg) and midazolam (0.4 mg/kg), and group II in which children were premedicated by midazoam (0.7 mg/kg).
The sedation regimens were assessd clinically and laboratory. Clinical assessment included hemodynamic response, behavior during treatment, amnesia, and post operative behavior, while laboratory assessment included measuring salivary cortisol as a biological marker of stress
