Abstract Tuberculosis is a disease of worldwide importance particularly in third world countries. A recent report suggests that there are 20 million cases of active tuberculosis in the world and around 5.000 people die from tuberculosis every day. Tuberculosis remains a significant disease in Egypt. The incidence of tuberculosis is about 1.4-2.3% in a village of el-minia government called alhawaslya. Diagnosis of tuberculosis remains a problem. There are various methods for diagnosis of tuberculosis , but some of these methods are slow in diagnosis, others do not allow identification at the species level , others are expensive. The advantage of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has opened new possibilities for diagnosis of mycobacterial infections. |
