Abstract This work was carried out at Sakha Poultry Production Research Station. Animal Production Research Institute, Kafr El-Sheikh, Ministry of Agriculture, during four successive generations (2002/2003, 2003/2004, 2004/2005 and 2005/2006) in order to study the direct response to selection for feed conversion of egg production till 40 years of age and for body weight at 12 weeks of age in Mandarah and El-Salam strains of chickens. Correlated responses of body weight and body measurements at different periods, age at sexual maturity, duration period of the first ten eggs, egg number, egg weight and egg mass at 40 weeks of age also were studied. Moreover, coefficients of habitability, genetic and phenotypic correlations among studied traits were estimated. |
