Summary
Introduction of the Search:
For Schelling, Art is not something different to Philosophy and not a tool for it, but indeed it is its first source and the permanent inspiration. The early philosophical reflections in the Greek age emits from the fabulous poetries and the artists’ creation.
So, Schelling hope that philosophy can return once again to its right position as it was in the Greek Age, and to be united with the Art’s Spirit.
Further, in that study, we can discover the Greek roots in Schelling’s aesthetic philosophy of art, as well as, that the tackling for both of them cannot be separately, because that just philosophy only which can explore the main source, and so Schelling believed that it is possible to establish a real science of art through philosophy only. It is considered art is the intermediary that brings together the contradictions in the philosophy.
The Relevance of the Study:
The study contains a number of important reasons, including:
1 - To highlight the role of Greek culture in the impact of German thought, through the philosophy of Schelling,
2- To discuss the Schelling vision of the importance of art.
3- To promote the impact of cultural renaissance in the revitalization of the role of scientists, intellectuals and creativity and it shows through the Renaissance era influenced by Schelling.
The Method of the Study:
The approach taken in this study is a comparative analytical approach, where the researcher introduced the theory of Schelling’s philosophy of art through analysis of texts and demonstrates its roots in the Greek philosophy.
Sections of the Study:
This study includes an introduction and conclusion, and four chapters as follows:
First Chapter
It is entitled by ”Introduction of Schelling’s philosophy ”. And deal with the life of Schelling, and stages of intellectual development through the philosophy of identity, and prove the compatibility between nature and reason through the philosophy of nature and philosophy of idealism, and human freedom.
Second Chapter:
It is entitled by the ”Origin of Art Philosophy”. It is dealing with the dilemmas in the Schelling’s philosophy of art and the relationship between both art and science as well as between absolute, imitation and the subjective and objective in the art. Also explain the role of the imagination, mythology and genies and their impact in the art creativity.
Third Chapter:
It is entitled by the ”Plastic Arts and Nature”. It is about the visual arts and their relationship to nature, and the importance of harmony between form and content in the art. Also explain the plastic art such as painting, sculpture and music.
Forth Chapter:
It is entitled by the ”Schelling’s vision of Greek poetry” dealing with the Schelling’s position of Plato and his vision for the poetry, Also, it explains the several kinds of the poetry and the difference between the old and the modern poetry, and then demonstrates the importance of poetry in the production of sub-art.
In the end, summarizing the most important results of research.
