Abstract Staphylococcus aureus is an important human pathogen which is implicated in a wide variety of diseases. The virulence factors secreted by Staphylococcus aureus are major determinants of both disease causation and severity during the course of infection. from these virulence factors Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxins, which might be of a role in the pathogenicity of many dermatological conditions. In lesions of atopic dermatitis, Staphylococcus aureus is present abundantly and dominates the skin flora. More than 90% of chronic eczematous lesions contain Staphylococcus aureus, often in large numbers. It was proved that patients colonized with the enterotoxins positive strains of Staphylococcus aureus had greater severity of atopic dermatitis Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease with unpredictable remissions and relapses affecting about 1 – 2% of the population. Activation of T cells is believed to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. But recently; it has been proposed that psoriasis is a T-cell-mediated auto immune reaction triggered by bacterial superantigen. |
