Podranea ricasoliana (Tanfani) Sprague is a climbing shrub native to tropical and south Africa. It is cultivated in Egypt in Orman Botanical Gardens and in the Experimental station of faculty of pharmacy, Assuit University. It is an ornamental plant with showy pink flowers. Literature survey showed that nothing could be traced concerning the plant cultivated in Egypt and this provoked the present work that includes: Part I Botanical study including : the macro- and micromorphology of stem, leaf and flower in both entire and powdered forms. Part II: Phytochemical study including: phytochemical screening , extraction, fractionation, isolation and identification of the different constituents of the plant. Part III: Biological study of the methanol eluate from Diaion HP_20 including : antimicrobial activity , anti- oxidant activity on C.N.S., anti-inflammatory activity, antipyretic activity and toxicological effects.
