Abstract
This study was designed to determine the effect of vitamin C and yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a feed supplements on the non-specific immune response (cellular and humoral immune parameters), disease resistance against infection with pathogenic Aeromonas hyDROPhila and growth performance of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus . The experiment was carried out on 300 cultured Nile tilapia of 100 g body weight. The study was performed in three cement ponds 8x3x1 m dimension 100 fish in each fish were fed for 2 weeks on diets containing vit. C 500 mg/kg diet and yeast 1 g/kg diet for 2groups and 3rd group act as a control. The results revealed significant increase of total lekocytic count, in monocytes, neutrophiles phagocytic activity and index, lysozyme conc. , total serum protein, albumin and globulin than the control group. Electrophoretic pattern of serum protein showed significant increase in ð-globulin in both vit. C daily weight gain specific growth rate and condition factar was positively increased campared to control mortality rate for experimental infection with ahyDROPhila decreased for vit. C and yeast 40 and 20% while control group was 90% the histopathological result in control positive of experimental infected O. niloticus was degenerative changes with inflammatory response in most of the internal organs.
