Abstract This study was designed to determine the effect of dietary sodium alginate on the erythrogram. cellur and humoral immune parameters. growthperformance and disease resistance against infection with aeromonas hyDROPhila in nile tilapia oreochromis niloticus. 400 cultured nile tilapia of (80-120g)average body wieght in 4 coment ponds (8x3x 1.)100 fish in each, fish were fed for 2 weeks on diets containg sodium alginate of 0.5,1.0, 2g/kg for 3 groups and 4th group act as acontrol. the results revealed significant increase in RBCs, Hb conc, PCV%, total leucocytic count, phagocytic activity and index, lysozyme conc., total protein, albumin and globulin than control, the best conc. was 2g/kg. no significant increase in o-globulin by increasing the dose. daily wieght gain, specific growth rate and the condition factor was increased compared to the control group. mortality rate for experimental infection decreased by increasing dose to reach 60, 20 and 10%, while control group was 90%. |
