Abstract Dental ceramic materials exhibit many desirable properties. However, brittleness and low tensile strength are weak points of ceramic materials. Until recently, only limited number of small FPDs were made of infiltrated alumina porcelain. The purpose of the present study was to determine(1) the fracture resistance of three-unit FPD made of In-Ceram zirconia core ceramic.(2) ) Evaluate the biologic compatibility of the tested core ceramic material.(3)Assess the bacterial adhesion potential to the milled surface Two stainless steel metal three-unit master FPD models with a maxillary second premolar and second molar were made. Tooth preparation showed a 1mm circumferential shoulder margin. One model had an axial taper of 6° with an added proximal box opposing the pontic space. The other model had a 10° taper. |
