Abstract Pototherapy is now consideres to be the standard from of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. the study was conducted for assessment of hypocalcaemia in neonates treated with phototherapy. it was conducted on 40 jaundiced full term neonates presenting with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia treated with phototherapy . tge study revealed a high statistically significant decrease in total serum calcium in full term jaundiced . neonates after 48 hours on phototherapy . it is very important to mention that hypocalcaemia in these cases was on laboratory babies with no obvious clinical mainifestations. accordingly, we recomended assessment of calcium level in cases of neonatal hyperbilirubinemis treated with phototherapy for more than 48 hours and manage these cases accordingly. |
