Abstract Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) remains a leading cause of respiratory infections in infants and young children. the present study aimed at measuring the magnitued of the problem of RSV infection in Ismailia city . It included 150 patients aged one month to 2 years with acute respiratory infections . RSV antigen Nasopharyngeal aspirates were assayed in all patients . The study documented that 38% were +ve for RSV. The peak incidence of RSV was during the months from December to March.Bronchiolities was the most common diagnosis among RSV +ve patients . it was concluded that RSV is a common organism of chest infection in Ismailia city .. |
