Abstract
this study showed that the carrier rate of HBV among pregnant women attenging minia hospital is 10.4% which are similar to recent studies in the general population of Egypt . parity was found to be of no significance , in primipara carrier rate was 10.3% , while in multipara was 10.5%. the present study demonstrated that vertical transmission from mother to her offspring is one of the important routes in the transmission of HBV.
