Abstract 1) The present investigations deal with karyosystematic studies or 10 genera and 18 species, belonging to Compositae - Lactuceae 2) Chromosome countings were carried out for all of the nvestigated taxa. Leontodon tuberosus has the lowest chromosome umber (2n=8), while the highest number of (2n=36) is recorded in ne same chromosome number of (2n=18) as that of the cul tivated :ubsp. endi via. 3) Karyotype analyses for three species of Picris showed that asplenioides and P. strigosa are more similar to each other as o~ared with P. intiSTefolia. j) In Reichardia tingitana, the chromosome numbers are different n two of the investigated varieties. In var. tingitana (2n=16). ile in val’. orientalis 2n=14. 5) Hedypnois cretica is a polymorphic species which enabled :tailed studies: nromosome numbers in different populations have been elaborated .n details during the present study. The recorded chromosome ountes are 2n=12, 13, 15, 17 and 18. b) PMC analysis for H. cretica. showed irregularity in the amount ,[the uni- and bivelents chromosomes. c) The resuJ. ’ts o! The other 14 fie ld plants (78%) :roduced F-mother plants with uniform chromosome numbers. 6) Feulgen karyotype and standardized karyotype for 10 taxa was arried out with computer-assisted quant if icat ion program. 7) Chromosome groupings were statistically analysed by using o~uter program system SPSSX. 8) Giemsa Staining.; was .retica which had high used for five taxa including Hedypnois heterochrol~tenic bands while Picris ·xhibi ted simi lar banding patterns with centromeric, proximl and erminal bands. |
