A seizure or convulsion is a paroxysmal; time limited change in motor activity and /or behavior that result from abnormal electrical activity in the brain Seizure are common in the pediatric age group and occur in approximately 10% of children Meningitis is the inflammation of the arachnoid and pia mater (the
membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord) and the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Meningoencephalitis is an inflammatory process involving the meanings and to a variable degree the brain tissue Our thesis aims at throwing spot lights on the variable clinical presentations and detectable laboratory findings in relation to the a etiology of seizures among convulsing febrile infants and young children aged (6/12 14 years). The study was carried upon 100 patients and 100 control infants and young children classified as follow: Group I convulising group: 100 patients (64 male 46%, 36 female 36%) with seizures associated with fever whose ages ranged from (6/12-14 years) with a mean age of presentation (39.2± 29.33 months)they were classified into febrile group(70) patients (48male68.6%, 22female31.4% )and meningitic group (30)patients (16male53.3%,14female 46.7%) Group II control group 100 clinically apparently healthy children (50 male 50%, 50 female 50%) visited the out patient clinics they have the same age group (6/12-14 years) with a mean age of presentation (39.87± 19. 3months) they have the same socioeconomic status (matched age ,sex and socioeconomic status) All patient and control were subjected to the following: Full history taking Thorough clinical examination including meticulous neurological examination laboratory Investigations.
