Abstract
The main clinical findings of our study are that in diabetic patients without clinically evident heart disease the following data was detected : -
1) Not only left ventricular but also right ventricular function is impaired,
2) The deterioration of right ventricular performance implicates diastolic abnormalities and systolic ones,
3) Additive effect of concomitant ischemia in terms of further enhancement of right ventricular dysfunction was shown,
4) Impairment in right ventricular systolic and diastolic function was evidenced mainly by TDI-derived indexes,
5) Doppler tissue imaging was provided to be valuable,feasible, safe, easy to be performed and relatively inexpensive technique and can be done as a bedside study.
6) Pulsed wave Doppler tissue imaging is relatively sensitive and specific method that allowed detection and quantification of any degree of diastolic and systolic dysfunction.
