Abstract
The aim of this work is to furnish information on vaginal bacteroides especially bacteroides fragilis group and its role as a cause of vaginitis. We found that from 100 unselected females who complained from vaginitis , bacteroides spp were isolated in 22 percent from the vagina and from 50 normal female had no symptoms or signs of vaginitis bacteroides spp. Represented 10 percent. Bacteroides spp were identified by the tradiational methods of identification including the microscopical examination of gram-stained films, cultures on kanamycin-vancomycin blood agar and biochemical reactions by using AP120 A for anaerobes. Bacteroid bivius represented 28.5 percent of anaerobes in the vagina of patients and the main species of bacteroides in the vagina in cases of vaginitis.
