Abstract Aim of the work To study the normal anatomy of the skull base and its normal anatomical variations using computed tomography. Conclusion 1- The axial scan is considered the best projection for demonstration of the foramina (ovale, spinosum, vesalis, canaliculus innominatus, and foramen lacerum, horizontal portion of carotid canal, hypoglossal canal and foramen magnum). 2- The coronal scan is considered the best projection for demonstration of the foramina (rotundum, vidian canal, cribriform plate of ethmoid and vericle portions of carotid canal). 3- Internal auditory canal and jugular foramen appeared in both axial and coronal scans. |
