Abstract
The aim of the work is to:
1- Evaluate the effect of clomiphene citrate on cervical mucus.
2- Evaluate the impact of starting clomiphene citrate on the second day of the cycle or the use of exogenous estrogen.
Conclusion:
Clomiphene citrate as an ovulation induction therapy, was shown in this study to have an adverse effect on cervical mucus if used with the usual program of 50 mg daily started from the fifth day of the cycle. This effect can be treated by giving clomiphene citrate from the second day of the cycle or by giving ethinyl estradiol 20ug following the course of clomiphene citrate although the latter program was shown to more effective.
Also, the rate of ovulation reported in this study was higher when clomiphene citrate was used with ethinyl estradiol and when it was used from the second day of the cycle than when used from the fifth day of the cycle.
