Abstract

Aim of the study
To study the effect of hyperhomocysteinaemia as predisposing factor for ischemic heart disease.
Conclusion
In conclusion the result may indicate that the ischemic heart disease. Occur more in patients with high homocysteine levels and elevation of homocysteine is a major risk factor for ischemic heart disease. In our locality and evidence has accumulated to support the 20 years old observation that patients with clinical and angiographic evidence for coronary artery disease have higher levels of plasma homocysteine than controls, the major factor leading to hyper homocysteinemia is folate deficiency, pyridoxine (Vit B6 and Vitamin B12) are also important in the metabolism of methionine and deficiency of any thses vitamins can lead to accumulation of homocysteine, so dietary supplementation of these vitamin in fruits and vegetables or vitamin supplementation must be added to progeams of presentation and treatment of coronary heart disease.
