Abstract
The study aim was to determine the impact of proper exercises & diet on the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis among immobilized orthopedic patients. Materials and method : the study was conducted on a random sample of 60 immobilized orthopedic patients divided alternatively into two equal group, 30 patients for each groups. Study group (I) exposed to achieved exercises of the lower limb and therapeutic diet. Control group (II) exposed to routine hospital care. A experimental research design was used . Tools of the study : three tools were used by the investigator for collecting the necessary data. The first was deep vein thrombosis structured interview questionnaire. The second was deep vein thrombosis risk factors assessment sheet . The last one was deep vein thrombosis clinical assessment sheet. Results : revealed that the age ranged form 40 to less than 50 years old at the mean age ( 43.63+-9.34, 44.23+- 9.37) for two group respectively were male. Conclusions : Immobilized orthopedic patients exposed to achieved exercises of the lower limb and a prescribed therapeutic diet were not exposed to deep vein thrombosis than those thrombosis orthopedic patients who exposed to routine hospital care from orthopedic department.
