Abstract Aim of the work To evaluate of Procalcitonin and interleukin-6 as early markers for the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. Conclusion 1- Procalcitonin and interleukin-6 are good markers for early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. 2- CRP is a good marker for neonatal sepsis after the first 24 hours. 3- The use of Procalcitonin, interleukin-6 and other markers (total leucocyte count, staff/neutrophil ratio >0.2, C-reactive protein and blood culture) collectively may give the best results for diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. |
