Abstract
Aim of the work
To investigate the role of interleukin-6 (IL-6), epidermal growth factor (EGF). Insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and granulocyte colony stimulating factor (GCSF) in different stages of breast milk in relation to different groups of neonates.
Conclusion
Our message is breast milk is essential for each neonate with special reference to the early milk (colostrum) as a defense wall against any coming immunosuppressive disorders, infections and all chronic illness. Further studies should be carried out to correlate between the serum level of such cytokines in blood of neonates with the corresponding levels in breast milk. Such growth factors should be considered in the artificial formulae of milk for the babies under article feeding.
