Abstract Aim of the work To identify cases with autoimmune hepatitis among children presented by symptoms similar to those with an acute viral hepatitis, hepatomegaly or hepatosplenomegaly. Conclusion From this study according to the results of clinical presentations, laboratory investigations sonographic examination and histopathological examinations of the liver, we can conclude that four cases of our studied group may have autoimmune hepatitis, also the cases where ANCA was present in their sera had more severe illness as shown from the results of their hepatic function tests especially the synthetic ones. Hence pANCA can be used a sensitive indicator for the diagnosis prognosis and the outcome of autoimmune hepatitis. |
