Abstract
It is a known fact that pollution has a direct effect on the aquatic system (fauna and flora) (clark, et al., 1997 and Marjorie, 1999).
Lake mariut is one of the lakes suffering from pollution since the early seventies (El-Sharkawy, 1978; Akel, 1989). The effect of the different kinds of pollution on some morphological and biological parameters of fish fauna living in the lake and other aquatic organisms have been determined by many authors (page 29, chapterI) in order to find out the extent of suffering of fish population in the lake. The present investigation, dealt with various biological parameters of cichlid fish species that could be affected by pollution since the early seventies. The first biological parameter that could be affected by pollution is the length at the end of the first year of life.
