Abstract
Abstract
Literature review cited that chronic renal failure has become as significant health problem for patients, these patients need medical nutrition therapy to prevent or alleviate the symptoms of uremia and restore health status . The study was purposive in nature, consisted of 60 males and females adult patients on hemodilysis . The data collection phase was completed over 6 months in Bab El-Sharia University Hospital at dialysis units .The studied sample consisted of ( 28 ) females and ( 32 ) males their age was ranged between ( 20 - 60 ) years with a mean age of ( 40.6 ± 10.86 ) and ( 43.4 ± 11.87 ) respectively . Subject were pre and post tested (tools implementation) a constructed interviewing questionnaire sheet was used to collect demographic and medical data in addition to knowledge about diet . As well assessment sheet was used to assess patients nutritional, biochemical analysis .
Patients were given nutrition counseling and prescribed diet contained 1.2 g protein/kg/day, 35 kcal/kg/day .Finding revealed that there was an improvement in patients nutritional status after implementation of the nutritional program and there was an improvement in the patients biochemical analysis ( hemoglobin, hematocrite, red blood cells, urea, creatinine, calcium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium ) and health status after conducting of the program . In conclusion the study findings pointed out that sepecified nutritional program seemed to have a positive impact or improvement of nutritional and health status of patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis .Replication of the study on larger probability sample and long duration ( more than 6 months ) is recommended .Key Words:Kidney – Chronic – failure – Kidney Function Tests - Therapy – Urea , Ferretin.
