Abstract

An experimental study was conducted inside the diffuser of a blower with back swept blades. To evaluate the effect of sudden enlargement inside the diffuser. In the velocity, and pressure distributions at various relational speeds, 1500 and 2000 rpm, and the different with ratios, B/Bo 1,1.5,2 the effect of impleller location inside the wider diffuser on the velocity and pressure distributions, was studied in the case when the enlargement located at diffuse from wall side, and at back side, the flow mechanism inside the diffuser was studied at speed 1500, and 2000 rpm.
The study includes the effect of inserting expansion rings, designed to fill the space between the impeller and the wider diffuser, to decrease the eddy generated at this region. The velocity and pressure distributions inside the diffuser are measured, in the case of sudden and inclined enlargement for varies diffuser configurations at width ratio B/Bo=2, and rotational speed 2000rpm.
