Abstract Since most of the previous studies were focused on the enhancement of the mechanical properties of steel by either heat treatment or mechanical treatment therefore the present work is concerned on the study of tensile and creep properties of stainless steel 304 under the effect of both heat and mechanical treatment which Knows thermo-mechanical treatment In the present work stainless steel 304 has been tensile tested until fracture at different temperatures (RT 200 C 300C 400C 500C 570C 600C 700 C and800c) For determining the tensile properties such as ultimate tensile strength proof strength fracture strength ductility uniform strain local strin and toughness according to the variation of ultimate tensile strength with temperature for the tested steel at the above mentioned temperatures the thermo-mechanical treatment temperatures of (RT , 200C , 500 C , and700 c ) were chosen to avoid the local deformation during Mechanical treatment the maximum uniform strain at different temperatures Have been determined and the per-strain levels of (25%,50% ,75% ,and 100%) Of uniform strain were selected A group of specimens were thermo-mechanically treated at each temperature and pre-strain level to study the tensile compression hardness and creep behavior tensile properties compression properties and Brielle hardness number for treated |
