Abstract The thesis comprises three main chapters: I- Introduction: In this chapter, a literature survey is made on metal complexes of hydrazones. II- Experimental: In this chapter, the method used for the preparation of the ligands 2-anilino-N’-[(1Z)-ymethylene] acetohydrazide (HL2) and their Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), Ru(III), Zr(IV), and HF(IV) complexes are described. The techniques of elemental analyses, molar conductivities, magnetic measurements and spectral studies have been used for elucidation of the chemical formulation of the ligands and their metal complexes. III- Results and discussion: This chapter is divided into two parts (a) The first part includes the results and discussion of the elucidation of chemical formulae of the ligands. (b) The second one involves the result and discussion of the characterization of manganese (II), cobalt (II), nickel (II), copper (II), iron (III), ruthenium (III), Zr(IV) and Hf(IV) complexes of ligands HL1 and HL2. The analytical and spectral data show that the ligands behave as neutral bidentate as in case of complexes (2), (20), (21), (23), (24) and (27). The ligands in complexes (6), (9), (15), (18), (19) and (25) behave as monobasic tridentate. The coordinate occurs via the enolic oxygen atom, azomethine nitrogen atom and hetero atom. |
