Abstract The present study follows up the monthly dynamics of marine benthic polychaetes and associated fauna of both hard and soft bottoms, relative to the surrounding physico chemical characteristics along Alexandria sea coast from june 2005 to may 2006. The study was carried out at selected sites at Abu-Qir (AQ), El-Mandara (MN), stanly (ST), El-Shatby (SH) and El-Mex (MX), representing different substrates. Physico-Chemical characteristics of shore water (temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen and biochemical oxygen demand) and benthic communities of hard substrates were studied at AQ,MN,ST and MX,while physico-chemical characteristics of intertidal sediments (Grain size, organic matter and organic carbon contents) and their infaunal communities were studied at all sites including SH. |
