Abstract

Prospective study has been done in pediatric surgical unit. In
Zagazig University hospitals. Including 40 boys with undescended
testes. Cases will include undescended testes of different types (intra
abdominal, intra canalicular, unilateral and bilateral cases). And at
C different age groups during infancy and early childhood. For each
boy. Clinical examination by experienced pediatric surgeon. U.S. for
measurement, localization and associated urogenital anomalies.
Blood samples for F.S.H.., LH and testosterone level. Orchiopexy
[surgical or laparoscopic[done at. The age of 8 months as
recommended by 4th international symposium on pediatrics
androlongy, 2001). Some infants at earlier age group if indicated as
cases associated with clinically manifested congenital hernia.
Children of different age groups, presented at older age for first time.
Testicular biopsy: will be taken at the time of orchiopexy for
undescended testes and contra lateral descended testes. Biopsies will
be fixed in 2% gluteraldhyde in phosphate buffer embedded in
Epoin. Sectioned at O.4um and stained with toulindine blue,
Histomorphometric analysis was performed by light microscopy.

Testicular biopsy will be taken for some cases of Redo-orchiopexy
after unsuccessful orchiopexy or during second stage orchiopexy in
staged orchiopexy. Spermatic index of each boy will be defined and
evaluated according to the criteria suggested by (Hadziselomovic et
al 2001) as follows.
