Abstract Nowdays the demand for woody trees, specially in developing cuntries with poor natural resources like Egypt, is increased. They are needed for a wide variety of purposes such as timber and pulpwood, fuel, forage, windbreakers, soil conservation and water erosion, pleasant shade and other ornamental uses in the landscape. Two woody ornamental tree species, cordial myxa L. And parkinsonia aculeate L. Were the subject of this study in regard to their response to some macro-and micronutrients and some plant growth regulator treatments. Two separate experiments were carried out in the nursery and laboratory of ornamental plants Division, Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture , Minia University during the two successive seasons of 1991 and 1992. first experiment delt with effect of different NPK fertilization treatments on some vegetative growth parameters of cordial myxa seedlings, in addition to declaring the most suitable maturity stage at which the seeds should be collected. The second experiment concerned the parkinsonia aculeate seedlings as affected by gibberellic acid, kinetin, triptophan , zinc, manganese and urea, in addition to a prelimunary trial to solve the problem of the difficulty of seed germination by sulphuric acid seed soaking treatments. |
