Abstract
Schistosomiasis affects about 200 milion people world wide .
In Egypt , the disease conistitutes a major health problem with almost 6 million Egyptians infected.it is also significantly associated with hepatitis b and hepatitis c viral infections .
It is worth nothing that , hepatitis c virus is considered the most common etiology of chronic liver disease in Egypt .
Due to the wide fluctuations in the levels of transaminases in addition to the presence of pronounced histological changes in patients with normal concentrations , the need arose for a safe , non- invasive and accurate marker of liver damage.
