Abstract

from the previous results it could be concluded that:
Pythium spp. are common constituents of the biotic flora of the rhizosphere soil of many of the cultivated plants
in Egypt. The pathogenicity of the isolated pythia varies from avirulent to strongly virulent spp. The mycoparasitic fungus, Pythium oligandrum was COmlTIOn in the rhizosphere soil of some of the plants investigated. This fungus is of special interest due to its importance as a biological control agent of some fungal plant diseases. Also, it was possible
through this investigation to isolate both P. ultimum var. sporangiiferum and P. aquatile for the first time in Egypt.
