Abstract The present study was desingned aiming to add a new contributions to our available knowledge on the bionomics of the greater wax moth Galleria mellonella (L.) , which is well recognized as a great enemy of the honey bee wax . The results obtained could be summarized zs follows: 1- Effect of controlled temperature, humidity and light on the life cycle of G. mellonella: A) effect of temperature: 1) It was found that the pre-oviposition period of the greater wax moth was very much effected by low temperature (15°,20°C),while such effect was rather less under warm temperature (25°,30° and 35°C) 2)increasing temperature shortened slightly the egg laying periods 3)studying the course of oviposition showed that the average number of eggs laid per 10 fertilized females was 797.0, 973.2, 1361.1, 1557.8 and 1368.0 eggs at 15° ,20°,25°,30° and 35°C, respectively. |
