Abstract

Electrocuting insect traps (Eits) are popular devices commonly used to control flying insects in food estabishments, homes and hospitals. The traps contain a visual attractant and a high voltage wire grid. Upon contact with the grids, the insects are electrocuted and disintegrated by the high voltage. A major objection to the operation of electrocuting traps in premises where food is handled is the production of insect particles while insects are electrocuted by the high voltage.
