Abstract Summary This retrospective hospital based study reviewing the malignant cases presented to Minia university hospital and Minia Oncology Center during the period from Jan 2005 to Dec 2007, and it was as follow: The total number of cases was 5570 cases; 3105 males and 2465 females with a male to female ratio of 1.3:1. The age in the study group ranged between ”1-100”, with a mean age of 52.8 year for male and 50.01 year for female. Most of cases were diagnosed based on pathological data (81.5%). The highest incidence of cancer was in the 6th decade. Concerning the most frequent cancers; our data revealed that HCC is the most common representing (15.2%) followed by breast (14.2%) followed by bladder (12.7%) followed by NHL (7.9%). Concerning the childhood cancers; Acute leukemia is the commonest (23.2%) followed by CNS tumors (14.8%) and NHL(13.6%). Hepatocellular carcinoma was the most common cancer in Minia representing 15.2% of all incident cancers and 20.6% of male cancer. Breast cancer was the most frequent cancer among females. Representing 31.2% of all newly diagnosed female cancers and 14.2% of all incident cancers. Bladder cancer representing 12.7% of all incident cancer. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer was representing 7.9% of all incident cancer. Colorectal cancer was represented by 3.6% of all incident cancer. Lung cancer was representing 3.3% of all incident cancer. |
