Abstract
In a Mobil Ad Hoc Network (MANET), temporary link failures and route changes happen frequently. With the assumption that all packet losses are due to congestion, TCP performs poorly in such environment. Cross layer and layered proposals are invented to improve TCP performance over ad hoc networks. Cross layer proposals depends on providing lower layer information to the upper layer to perform better. On the other hand, layered proposals rely on adapting TCP layer independently from other layers. In this research, the performance of different NewReno TCP variants over ad hoc netwoeks is evaluated. Results show that some variants are more suitable than others. Also One of TCP parameters named the minimum RTO value is tuned.
