Abstract
Older people are particulary prone to accidents;accidents are cause of morabidity and morality among the elderly people.Among the environmental factors are slippery, presnce a clutter objects as electic cords, unfixed carpts, torn rugsunstafe furniurefurniture not arranged, absence handrails in corridors, stairs bathroom the first and last step of stair is not cleared defined, faucts not cleared marked, faucets in round shaps, absence raised toilet seat, difficulty reach cloth hanger or soap holder, absence rubber mat in bathtub and to use of unsafe assistive devices.the elimination or modification of perdisposing and envioronmental sisk factors is an important stategy to avoid or minimize accidents. in this resect the gerontological nurs play essential role in helping the elderly persons to achieve and maintain optimal safty.the aim of this study was identify the impact of microenvironment on occurrence of accident in elderly homes in alexandria. The study was carried out in four eldely homes in Alexandria two govenmental namely dar el wedad dar el hedaya and two private dar mohamed ragab.
