Abstract Clinical, laboratory and sonographic follow up examinations were carried out 4 weeks after the sonographic guided intra_articular injection of methylprednisolone acetate, with particular attention being paid to reproducing the baseline scanning approach. The data were collected and the results showed that: There were highly significant differences in MS, VAS, swelling, tenderness, synovial thickness and RI between before and 4weeks after intra_articular injection of glucocorticoids (p<O.O 1) but there were insignificant difference in AI, ESR and CRP between before and 4weeks after intra articular injection of glucocorticoids. There was a significant negative correlation between RI and both swelling and tenderness before and 4 weeks after intra_articular injection of glucocorticoids. There was also a highly significant negative correlation between RI and 4 weeks after VAS before intra_articular injection of gl ucocorticoids. There were no significant correlations between RI and MS, AI, ESR or CRP either before or 4 weeks after intra_articular injection of glucocorticoids. There was insignificant correlation between synovial thicknesses and tenderness or VAS before and 4 weeks after intra_articular injection of glucocorticoids.
