Abstract This work presents a unified and generalized study of walsh and related functions.The definitions as well as the properties and theorems are presented,proved and discussed.Comparison with other orthogonal systems of functions especially the sine and cosine functions is established.A numerical method for direct conversion from walsh series to fourier series is also presented.The accompanying error is evaluated and corrected for,whenever correction is possible.The application of walsh functions to the domain of operational calculus is also studied through simple matrix manipulations.The resulting error is investigated and discussed.Finally the necessary computer programs are listed in the appendices. |
