Abstract The electrical system at a nuclear power plant is designed to provide a diversity of reliable power sources which are physically and electrically isolated so that any single failure will affect only one source of supply and will not propogate to alternate sources. -Froi-ic- the Safety point of view, it is necessary’ to study the events of loss of off-site power; loss of on.-site power, and simultaneous loss of both off-site and on-site power. This thesis dLscusses the problem of improving the reliability or oii -site power. A litrature survey on the description, fuction, and design criteria for EPS in NPPs is presented. The model adopted to study the reliability and availability of on-site power system in NPPs is the Markov Model. Also a general trend analysis as well as a trend analysis guided by the redundancy level are provided. Calculations and results are tabulated, and the time behavior of reliability and unavailability is . ncl uded,. |
